Path into Sustainable Solutions

I am a results-driven professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, majoring in Financial Management. My career has been built on a foundation of diverse experiences, ranging from high-volume sales coordination and client management to complex logistics and property management. Over the years, I have developed a knack for streamlining business processes and enhancing customer success.

My transition into sustainable solutions was a natural evolution of my professional journey. I’ve always been passionate about account management and building meaningful client relationships. Joining the sustainability sector allowed me to align my sales and operations expertise with a purpose-driven mission, ensuring that business growth doesn’t come at the expense of the planet.

Life Beyond Work

Something people might not know is that for the last eight years, I have been the sole breadwinner for my family. Balancing my own professional aspirations while supporting my two siblings through their college education has been one of my greatest challenges and proudest achievements.

This responsibility keeps me incredibly grounded and inspired. It fuels my work ethic and reminds me daily of the importance of resilience and long-term planning. Some of the values that I carry over into my work in sustainability.

Aligning Career Growth with Purpose

When I first interviewed seven months ago, I initially viewed this as another retail opportunity. However, Shift Eco completely transformed my perspective on conservation. Before joining, I wasn’t fully aware of “greenwashing”, the practice of labeling products as “eco-friendly” when their material makeup says otherwise.

Learning to identify these nuances has resonated with me deeply. I take great pride in being part of a team that is incredibly meticulous about material integrity. We don’t just sell products; we support local artisans and ensure that every item we offer is genuinely sustainable, helping businesses move past the “trend” of eco-friendliness toward real, ethical impact.

Communicating Sustainability to Clients

In my role, I often serve as a bridge between our sustainable mission and our clients’ practical needs. I communicate this value by focusing on clarity and authenticity. Since I am responsible for creating content for our social media, monthly newsletters, and blogs, I use these platforms to break down complex environmental concepts into relatable stories.

Additionally, when I prepare proposals and quotations for our customers, I don’t just list products, I highlight the material integrity behind them, whether it’s bamboo, or rPET. For clients new to this journey, I emphasize transparency by explaining why we choose specific materials and how supporting local artisans adds unique value to their brand. My goal is to show them that sustainability isn’t just a corporate checkbox, but a way to build a more resilient and respected business.

Turning Sustainability Goals into Practical, Everyday Solutions

It starts with data and clear communication. By analyzing a client’s current needs and existing supply chain, I can suggest small, manageable shifts, like switching to circular materials that don’t disrupt their operations. My goal is to make sustainability feel like a seamless upgrade rather than an overwhelming overhaul.

Building Trust Through Transparency

I recently worked with a client looking for company business cards. They were initially interested in bamboo, but based on the material’s longevity and the client’s specific needs, I knew it wouldn’t be the most durable solution for them. I spent days researching alternatives to ensure they received the best value for their money.

I recommended cards made from rPET material because it offered the sturdiness they required while remaining eco-conscious. While the client didn’t place the order immediately, she was deeply moved by my transparency. She thanked me for preventing her from making a purchase that wouldn’t last and kept our brochure specifically because she trusted our expertise. To me, building that trust is the first step in a successful sustainability journey.

Balancing Client Needs, Business Goals, and Ethical Impact

My background in financial management and sales development helps me maintain this balance. I look at every proposal through three lenses: viability, durability, and ethics. A solution is only sustainable if it works for the client’s budget and their long-term goals. By being a “consultative” partner rather than just a vendor, I ensure all three pillars are met.

The Biggest Mindset Shift Companies Face in Sustainability

Admin Assistant Kareen 5

In my experience, the most common challenge companies face when embracing sustainability is shifting their mindset from focusing on the lowest upfront cost to recognizing long-term value. Many organizations are conditioned to make purchasing decisions based purely on price, without fully considering durability, lifecycle impact, or brand reputation.

The shift begins when they understand that sustainable products, such as artisanal, responsibly sourced, or recycled items, offer more than just an eco label. In many cases, these products are more durable, reduce replacement frequency, and come with a transparent story that resonates with employees, clients, and stakeholders alike.

As sustainability becomes less of a “nice to have” and more of a business expectation, companies start to see that responsible choices can strengthen brand credibility, support ethical supply chains, and reduce environmental impact over time. Once they connect sustainability to long-term resilience and trust, it stops feeling like a cost and starts becoming a strategic investment.

Collaborating Internally to Uphold Sustainability Standards

I work closely with everyone in the team to vet every supplier and material. Whether we are coordinating deliveries or planning content, we strive hard to ensure that our recommendations always align with our core mission of authentic environmental stewardship.

The Motivation Behind Driving Long-Term Sustainable Change

What inspires me most is seeing how small, intentional changes can create long-term impact. When a business chooses more sustainable products, it doesn’t just affect their operations, it influences their teams, their clients, and the standards they set within their industry. For me, success isn’t measured by numbers alone. It’s reflected in the waste we help reduce, the ethical suppliers and local artisans we support, and the trust we build along the way.

Knowing that my work plays a role in creating more responsible business practices is what motivates me every day.
