Beat the Plastic Habit: Your Guide to Local Eco-Warriors in the UAE

3 Mins read

Cutting down on plastic waste is one of the most impactful steps we can take to protect our planet. Plastic pollution is a major environmental issue, affecting oceans, wildlife, and even our health. Every year, millions of tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans, where they harm marine life and ecosystems. Plastics take hundreds of years to decompose, and as they break down, they turn into microplastics that contaminate soil and water, entering the food chain and posing health risks to humans and animals alike.

By reducing plastic use and recycling more effectively, we can minimize these harmful effects. Small changes in our daily lives, like using reusable bags, bottles, and containers, can make a big difference. The UAE offers several local resources to help you cut down on plastic waste and live a more sustainable lifestyle. Here are some of the initiatives available to help you recycle and reduce plastic waste in the UAE.

1. ReLoop

ReLoop is a handy service available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. You can recycle items like electronics, plastics, metals, glass, clothes, paper, and cardboard right from your home. Just download the ReLoop app, available on both iOS and Android, to get started.
